Guru Purnima

Festival

At Shanti Yoga Ashram, Guru Purnima is observed as a day of gratitude and honoring the Guru.

“Honor the Guru. Receive the wisdom. Walk deeper into your Sadhana.”

What is Guru Purnima?

Guru Purnima is a sacred day dedicated to honoring the Guru—the source of wisdom, guidance and spiritual knowledge. It is a time for students to express gratitude to their teachers and reflect on the teachings that illuminate their path. In the yogic tradition, Guru Purnima is observed through meditation, Mantra, Puja and contemplation, making it a powerful occasion for deepening one's commitment to spiritual practice.

Significance of Guru Purnima

Guru Purnima reminds us that true learning is not only the gathering of knowledge, but the transformation of the seeker through guidance and practice. The Guru represents the light that helps remove ignorance and reveals a deeper understanding of the Self. For a Yoga practitioner, this day is an opportunity to cultivate gratitude, humility, discipline and devotion toward the path and the lineage of teachings.
