Our Story
Ashram History
Shanti Yoga Ashram Nepal began humbly in a cluster of bungalows on private land in Kathmandu, reflecting the simplicity of the traditional guru–disciple path. In this intimate setting, Yogi Prakash shared Tantra Yoga with all who came, officially registering the ashram in 2000. Despite limited resources, he guided around 3,000 students over a decade and later expanded his teachings internationally in Thailand, China, and Austria, where he authored Tantra Yoga. Over time, he realized that teaching alone was not enough and felt called to extend yoga into social service, leading to an early attempt to educate underprivileged children—an initiative that, though short-lived, planted the seed for future efforts.
A turning point came in 2010 with an 11-day Shiva Puran and the spiritual inauguration of the Shiva temple on the ashram grounds, drawing hundreds of people and inspiring a deeper transformation. During this event, Yogi Prakash dedicated his family land to the ashram, converting it into a trust and strengthening the community, with many becoming lifelong members. In 2011, this vision took shape through the founding of Divine Yoga School, integrating yogic wisdom with modern education, alongside the expansion of the ashram into a multi-story center with a panoramic yoga hall.
The ashram now offers both short-term and long-term programs for spiritual seekers, especially those interested in exploring the deeper, spiritual dimensions of yoga. At the same time, it has expanded its teachings internationally, establishing a physical presence in several countries abroad.
