In our ashram, we always end the day with singing Kirtan. Singing Kirtan and chanting mantras are devotional practices to deities. A deity is like a deeper and bigger being. It's a space, a presence, a feeling. These names are the names of that place inside of us that is love, pure being, pure awareness and pure joy. Kirtan and other forms of mantra practice help us uncover that place inside of us which is our true nature. Kirtan helps to guide your awareness to a place that is quiet and still.
